This guide is here to walk you through exactly what to expect, how the process works, and answer any questions before you book your session. Once you’ve read through, you’ll be ready to schedule your free phone consultation and get your boudoir session officially booked!
Where We’re Located
Our luxury boudoir studio is located in Innisfail, Alberta — just 15–20 minutes south of Red Deer. Inside our 1700-square-foot studio, you’ll find multiple set options, gorgeous natural light, beautiful boho-inspired decor, a full hair and makeup station, an in-house lingerie client closet (yes, you read that right!), a private sales area to view and touch your product options, and the biggest iPad you’ve ever seen for your same-day image reveal.
What is Boudoir?
At House of Her Photography, boudoir is about so much more than photos; it’s about self-love, confidence, and embracing your authentic self. We all have areas of our bodies we tend to criticize, but boudoir gives you the chance to see yourself through a new lens. This experience celebrates every part of who you are, flaws and all. Our goal is to take you to that place where you finally see the beautiful, powerful, raw version of yourself that everyone else already sees.
The Process
Here’s how it all works from start to finish:
Schedule your free phone consultation so we can chat and customize your experience.
Book your session date and start planning!
Select your wardrobe — bring your own or shop in our in-studio boutique.
Receive your prep guide with tips to help you feel ready.
Session day arrives! Your full session includes makeup (and hair if you choose to upgrade your experience), multiple outfit changes, and about 2–3 hours in the studio.
Enjoy a complimentary coffee or lunch break while we edit your images.
Same-day image reveal — see your beautiful images just hours after your session!
Select your products and place your order.
Pick up your products about 6–8 weeks later (or after your final payment if you're on a payment plan).
The Consultation
The phone consult gives us a chance to get to know you, answer any final questions, and start planning your perfect session. We’ll also schedule your session date at this time. Because we book several months in advance, be sure to give yourself plenty of time, especially if you're planning around a special date or gift.
Session Day
On session day, you’ll arrive at our private studio ready to relax and be pampered. Makeup is included (hair styling is an additional upgrade), and we’ll help you select 2–3 outfits to flatter your body and work with our lighting. You’re welcome to bring outfit options with you! We aim to keep props and busy styling minimal so your focus stays on YOU. Expect to be in the studio from about 9:00 am to 2:30 pm.
The Image Reveal
One of the best parts of your experience happens just an hour after your session: your same-day image reveal! You’ll get to see your soft edited images presented in a custom slideshow, choose your favorites, and select your product package. You’ll also be able to see, touch, and feel all of the beautiful products we offer in our studio to help you design the perfect keepsake.
Pre-Session Prep Tips
A few helpful reminders as your session approaches:
Hydrate: Start drinking extra water 7 days before for glowing skin.
Nails: Have a fresh manicure/pedicure or clean, trimmed nails in neutral tones.
Hair: No drastic hair changes right before your session. Schedule cuts/color at least a week prior.
Waxing/Shaving: Allow 24 hours for skin to calm if waxing; shave the morning off if needed.
Pack the night before: This helps you avoid forgetting anything.
Beauty rest: Get lots of sleep leading up to your session! Your mindset and skin will thank you!
